A Vagrant on the Louisiana Coast

MacGillivray's Warbler in Louisiana.
There were very few birds around on Tuesday but sometimes the quality of birds makes up for it.  While walking up to a net I thought “just another yellowthroat.”  As I got closer, my thoughts changed, “holy shit, it’s a Mac!”  This MacGillivray’s Warbler turned out to be the first record for the banding station.  Last fall, while banding in Idaho, we caught many MacGillivray’s Warblers but it was exciting to catch one as a vagrant.
